Cooler Master Cosmos SE Review

Cooler Master Cosmso SE Review.00_05_16_09.Still023So our standard test rig for graphics, storage cooling and cases at the moment is this lot. An XFX 650W XXX editon semi-modular design PSU, A Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5 board, 8GB of Crucial Ballistix DDR3, and Intel Pentium G3420 and an enermax ETS-T40-VD, as well as a 250GB SanDisk Ultra II. For good measure, I threw in a space HD7870 and 500GB 3.5″ mechanical hard drive just to test the fit. As I mentioned before, the build experience is great. It’s easy to move the case around with those handles, and when you want it still those awesome feet keep it there. There is no huge pressure to route all cables perfectly first time with this thanks to the inch or two worth of space in the back, and the actual chassis is small enough that you won’t have to worry about getting 8 pin CPU extender cables from somewhere either. If you need a bit more space, it’s really easy to take one of the hard drive cages out, to fit a long graphics card in there. With an mATX board, the holes in the motherboard tray don’t quite line up, meaning there is a bit of clutter/wiring hanging around, and with no PSU cover available, it *could* get messy, but with an ATX board, and a bit of time spent on customization and cable management, you could easily make this one of the most attractive builds around!

Cooler Master Cosmso SE Review.00_06_22_11.Still027I really like the look of this when it’s on. The blue LEDs shine very brightly and make the case look very cool.

Cooler Master Cosmso SE Review.00_07_18_12.Still030As you can see, even in my almost pitch black room, the case lights my walls up and a half!

So, final thoughts. This thing is amazing. I have wanted one of these for a long time, and now I have one – I am not disappointed. I realize for a mid tower, a PSU cover just isn’t practical, but for someone how wants a pretty awesome build, and likes the aesthetic this case exudes, then you have to get one. The window makes it easy to make this a show piece style PC, and with dust filters everywhere you look, a lot of room for customizability and a lot of room for maneuvering inside the case, this could be a great daily driver too. Also, as I mentioned, the fact you can have 8 3.5″ HDDs and another 82.5″ SSD/HDDs is amazing, especially if you wanted to use this as a stylish server-type PC.

I guess the final verdict is it’s a stylish, versatile, roomy case with a lot of potential to be awesome. Let me know in the comments if you think I fangirled over this case too hard, or if you want one! Let us know if you enjoyed this Cooler Master Cosmos SE review in the comments below!
