YoYotech Warbird GTI Gaming Desktop Review
|This is a pretty great custom PC, and definitely worth a look! Check out the YoYoTech Warbird GTI! So here is the 5 second review: It’s stylish, powerful, easy to upgrade, simple, great support and great options.
Now, for the longer bit of explaining those points!
Lets start with the exterior overview. On the front, and wrapping around to the top, is a matte red (or blue if you picked the blue version) plastic that is very nice to the touch. You’ll notice a DVD drive in the front, as well as space for a 3.5″ adapter or add-in if you want one. You’ll also notice the custom YoYoTech Logo on the front – something I found quite cool. The case, if you are wondering, is an Aerocool DS Cube – which comes with a nicely positioned window on the right (although due to the front panel I/O being located where it is on the MSI H81 itx motherboard inside, you do see the USB and Audio cable loom running down the side, but it is managed nicely so it isn’t much of a problem. You’ll also notice the MSI Gaming card inside. Our version, the one that retails for £899.99 on Ebuyer comes with the 4GB GTX 970, although you can get pretty much the same system, just with a GTX960 instead, at exactly £100.01 cheaper.
Heading back to the front, you’ll notice the vents all the way round the red side panel, this is for the large 240mm Aerocool (stock) fan in the front to intake air. I couldn’t directly see any dust filters here, but the large fan doesn’t draw too much air or pressure, so shouldn’t be much of a problem. Also, the cool YoYoTech Logo… I like it..
On the top, you’ll find a couple things. First off is headphone and microphone jacks, an HDD activity LED, a nice deep reset button and a deep, blue LED power button. On the other side, you’ll find two USB 2 ports and two USB 3 ports. Another cool feature that you can see below, is that the top cover can be replaced with a dust filtered mesh (which still fits well with the aesthetic) to provide ample airflow for the optional 2 120mm fans (or watercooling radiator) you can add in if you fancied an upgrade. I think this is a really cool feature – one that I’m glad they pass on to the customer!
On the back, you’ll find (starting at the bottom!) a removable dust filter for the power supplies intake, sitting in between the metal frame and the slotted plastic arch that acts as the cases’ mostly secure feet. You won’t knock this over easily. Carrying on, you’ve got the motherboard’s I/O (more in a sec) and the graphics cards’ I/O (again, hold on). You then have a 120mm Aerocool fan and the thumb screw used to tighten or loose the graphics card (something I had to use when I got the PC as it was a little loose – but not a big issue). You also get two water cooling grommeted holes – should you feel the need to use them.
The rear I/O, from left to right. PS/2 mouse port, and a PS/2 Keyboard port too (something that probably shouldn’t be there), two USB 2 ports, two USB 3 ports, DVI-D, VGA, Gigabit Lan, two more USB 2 ports and the standard line in, line out and mic in ports. On the GPU you have full size displayport, HDMI, DVI-D and DVI-I. Pretty comprehensive!
