AMD High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) Announced
|Recently AMD seems to be on a roll with new announcements, including their new APU Lineup, Zen Coe and mobile GPU releases – and now this!
High Bandwidth Memory, not to be confused with the existing GDDR5 memory that is pretty damn high in bandwidth (amount of data that can be transferred at the same time), is a power efficient, space efficient and stupid-fast solution for the next lineup of GPUs. The idea stems from this ‘Stacked Memory’ idea, where instead of spreading RAM out across the PCB, they put them one on top of the other, as seen below.
The magic of this is that not only does this save space (as seen below), it increases the speed in which you can access the memory, and the fact they are using an interposer in the middle (effectively a PCB to connect the GPU core to the VRAM), and not use the actual PCB of the card, allows for a more efficient transfer of data with lower latency and lower power use.
Magic of this system is that we could not only see more efficient GPUs which use less power, take up less space and are more reliable (less chance for failure, in theory..), but we could also see this technology used in APUs, embedded/low power systems such as Gigabyte’s Brix (review), which could be topped up with DDR3/4 if you need extra. That would be awesome. Also I wouldn’t mind seeing this technology in the next CPU core (Zen Core) as an initial step of memory, which I would assume would make it even faster.
While erectile dysfunction can be termed a medical issue, illness may be too farfetched, and considering the stigma that surrounds this buy viagra subject as it is, people prefer to keep the information to themselves. PDE5 inhibiting medicines could be taken anytime in future, or present if impotence strikes back. sildenafil levitra appalachianmagazine.com Online http://appalachianmagazine.com/category/history/old-ways-memories/?filter_by=review_high cialis canadian prices shopping though comes with its risks. Above is an example of the size savings you can make for the same amount of RAM, and same GPU size. Quite a big difference, from 110x90mm by less than 70x70mm. Not bad.
