144Hz V 60Hz – The Showdown
|For some reason, this is the only video I could find that did a half decent job of showing the differences between 144Hz and 60Hz monitors (if I do say so myself.. haha). I tried to take this from a more scientific approach, and used a GoPro Hero 3+ to record both screens doing pretty much the same thing at 120FPS, then used after effects to composite them together and slow them down. I think the best example is Unigine heaven, the first example I show, as you can see the bottom (60Hz) panel stuttering while the top (144Hz) is still buttery smooth.

For the video we used an AOC G2460PQU (click for the review!) and a BenQ GL2450HM (again, click for the review!), with the AOC monitor being the 144Hz option and the BenQ playing the role of 60Hz. While these monitors, regardless of refresh rate, aren’t quite the same class, both panels perform well in all tasks, and being the same size it worked out quite well. Both are 1080p, and now that we have Asus’s ROG Swift (review soon), I hope to be able to do a comparison between both 1440p and 1080p, and also G-sync v V-sync. After seeing this video, are those two ones you would like to see? Let me know on either the Youtube comments, or here!
