Comcast Stream, Netflix Killer?
|Comcast have now got a great new way to take your money.

Comcast Stream is a direct competitor to Netflix but also includes the ability to watch live TV. The service is designed for you to be able to watch live TV on your mobile device and your TV if your a “cord cutter”. Comcast Stream is going to support all the major networks and HBO. The only downside for Stream is that you can only watch the live TV whilst you are inside your home. You are also able to watch a large selection of TV shows, just like Netflix.
Comcast Stream is set to cost $15. The only problem with Stream is it requires a Comcast Xfinity Internet subscription as well. Comcast’s 2 Gb/s Internet will cost you the eye watering $300 per month plus a $1000 construction fee. The requirement for explicitly having Comcast Xfinity and that it only works when I’m at home, are just huge deal breakers for me.
Comcast Stream is going be launched in Boston and then if all goes well it will be released in Chicago and Seattle by the end of the year. As you will only be able to use the service whilst your inside your home and connected to your home WI-FI network, Comcast again have raised the issue of net neutrality.
Sling TV is another service where you can watch live TV. Sling TV costs only $20, has all the channels that I want to watch and I don’t have to watch it only when I’m at home. If your looking to watch TV on your mobile device or set top box, I would personally stay away from Comcast Stream.
