Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI Motherboard Review
|Want a low cost Z170 motherboard? This Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI is a pretty safe bet!
Let me start off by saying this is a short review. Without going into too much detail (which we aren’t known for anyway), there isn’t a whole lot to cover about the board, as it is aimed at working, and providing enough features for the money – although that isn’t saying it’s bad, it’s just not very exciting.
Lets start with what’s in the box. You’ll get 4 SATA cables, an SLI bridge, I/O Shield, Easy Connector for the front panel headers, a case badge, a game-related door hanger and leaflet, and two manuals.
I’m gonna run through a few of the features quickly, please see the images below for reference. First off is the Turbo B Clock, this is great as it allow you to overclock your i5 or i7 even on a value board such as this. This clock allows for base speeds of between 90Mhz and 200Mhz, and aids in overclocking the new Skylake chips. Next is actually right next to it, the 32Gb/s M.2 slot, which is really nice to see as well. You’ll also get 3 SATA Express ports, which mean a total of 6 SATA ports, some of which I believe are connected to the ASMedia controller you can see in the picture above. Last in this list is the AMP-UP audio. Even on such a value board, you still get a great sound system, with slit PCB and orange LEDs, as well as Super Nichicon Capacitors – pretty cool!

Alcoholic beverages depression is kind of uncontrolled lately being up to 40 % of people who gulp booze closely ‘ve pharmacy viagra got signs the fact that mimic depression. Human skin can online viagra australia be of two types – prescription grade and herbal or natural premature ejaculation pills. Something I’d like to point out, is that this board also supports DDR4, which may be slightly annoying now, but if you get this board now and can’t afford more that say 8GB – in 2 years time DDR3 prices will be much higher than DDR4! Not bad!
Let’s take a look at the Rear I/O. From left to right we have 2 USB2 ports, a PS/2 Mouse & Keyboard combo port, VGA, DVI-D, USB 3.1 Type C, 2 USB 3.1 Ports, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 USB 3.0 ports and 7.1 Audio! Really not bad for a value board huh?
Well, there are some drawbacks. The board, while technically ATX, is a ‘slim’ ATX board, meaning it doesn’t reach all the way to the 3 standoffs near the 24Pin, meaning when you try and connect or remove the 24 pin – please be very careful you don’t snap the board! Also there is the issue of style. Brown PCB.. Well that says it all for style.
I just wanted to put this here because it looks cool…
And just to show off, we ran the i7-6700K and 8GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 to make sure it all worked – which it did!
So, lets round off a bit. Who would buy this board? Well, theoretically someone on a tight budget but had their heart set on Z170/Skylake, and didn’t care about aesthetics. It has great features which will keep it one of the best featured boards for a while, and will allow you to expand your PC without changing platforms – something I wish I could do with my current 990FX motherboard! It doesn’t win any awards, but it’s certainly something to look out for if you are looking for a budget board! Check it out in the Amazon links below!
Round Up
Overall
Not bad, not great. Just right – sort of.
