Corsair Glaive Pro Review
|Corsair are no strangers to high end gaming peripherals, whether it’s their K95 Platinum’s, or Void Pro headsets, they generally do a pretty good job, if a tad expensive. Now they’ve got an update to their popular mouse – the Glaive. This is the Glaive Pro.
So, what’s the deal here? Well, it’s a bit of an all rounder. It’s got a PMW3391 sensor, meaning it can go all the way up to 18,000 DPI, should you wish, but otherwise tracks really rather well, including on their new mouse mats, like this MM350 Champion.
You’ve still got the switchable sides, this time we’ve got a slim one, slightly protruded one and a wide flat one which is great if you prefer resting your thumb down instead of on the side. It’s 115 grams, putting it on the heavier side for FPS mice, but still nothing terrible. You’ve also got 2 side buttons, which are pretty massive, but also not the best supported. I’ve definitely seen worse, but this could be a bit better.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Corsair product without all the RGB in the world, so you’ve got 3 RGB zones which make this a pretty attractive looking mouse – even if it’s gonna be under you hand the whole time. You can always turn them off in iCUE as always.
The little bars on the side are your DPI level which is great, which you adjust with the two buttons behind the scroll wheel.
So, the most important part, is it any good? Gaming wise, definitely. While it’s no pro’s CS:GO mouse, it’s a competent all rounder that tracks well, is pretty comfortable, especially with the switchable sides to get a side that’s right for your hand, and tracks well. While I would have liked to see more side button options with the switchable sides – much like the Razer Naga Trinity – it’s still an enjoyable mouse to use.
Of course, it’s premium. Corsair’s site has it listed for £70 in the UK, which is only £10 less than the aforementioned Naga Trinity I use myself, and I’d argue is more versatile thanks to the switchable button layouts, but overall I don’t think you’d be disappointed if you went for the Glaive Pro.
Would I put this on my desk? Personally? Probably not. I’d rather the Naga Trinity since that’s the mouse I actually have on my desk, but if you prefer the shape or feel of the Glaive, I wouldn’t try and stop you. The MM350 Champion pad is also great, and gets a good recommendation from me here too.
