MSI GL65 Showcase
|As always with sponsored videos, I like to make it nice and clear what you are getting yourself into when watching, so with that said, this video is sponsored by MSI, so we can have a look around this shiny new GL65 they’ve just launched here in the UK – and should be available around the world too.
Lets start with specs, it varies depending on the model, but mainly it’s a 9th gen i7 from Intel, my one is the 9750H, and most importantly, it can come with either a GTX 1650, 1660ti like mine here, or even an RTX 2060.
Display wise, it’s got a 1080p panel, it’s 15.6” and can have up to 120Hz making it a rather nice gaming experience, especially when paired with the hardware. Since this is a showcase and not a review I won’t go too far into performance numbers, but lets just say it does a good job. They’ve also redesigned the chassis so they have just 5mm bezels around the display, which they said means a screen to body ratio of 82%, not bad for a laptop!
They’ve also redesigned the base of the laptop to improve airflow to their Cooler Boost 5 cooling solution, supposedly over 10% more airflow overall which should translate to lower temps and a quieter laptop.
The keyboard is a steelseries one as always, and can be optionally per key RGB lit as well if you prefer, although the standard option is red backlighting. You can also use the steelseries engine software to setup macros, change lighting and make use of the gamesense feature too if you play supported games like CS:GO.
Speaking of software, they’ve included a rather interesting app they call the MSI App Player – it’s a joint venture with Bluestacks, and is a kind of android emulator that lets you play mobile games, on PC. While it’s not something I could see myself using too much, it’s interesting that it’s included here and I’d love to know what you think about it in the comments below.
One other thing they mentioned was their new “Giant Speaker”, which is their way of saying they make the speakers 5 times bigger, helping to increase the maximum volume by 40% while still retaining decent quality, which is always nice to have.
Overall then, the GL65 seems like a pretty good option for anyone looking for a pretty powerful laptop, that doesn’t entirely break the bank. If you’d like to see a full review of this in the future, do let me know in the comments below as well, and of course thank you to MSI for sponsoring this video.
