Blink XT2 Showcase – 2 Year Battery Life on 2 AAs!
|As with all sponsored videos, I like to make it clear what you are watching, and with that, this video is sponsored by Blink to showcase their XT2 home security and monitoring camera system, which actually holds some impressive claims, like 2 full years of battery life from just 2 AA batteries.
So, why would you want battery powered cameras? Well, it means there’s no wires, so they can be placed anywhere in wi-fi range. They can be mounted both inside and outside as they are IP-65 rated, which means they can withstand the good old British weather.
You can, say talk to your pets through the camera while you are at work by using the click-to-speak audio – I know people that do this. Seriously… Or, more likely for me, you can let delivery people who are dropping off all your black friday purchases to leave your parcels when you’re not at home, so nothing goes missing.
The nice thing about Blink is you get a video notification clip sent straight to your phone, so you instantly know what’s going on at home and can choose to take action there, just like this.
Of course, there’s more to these than a delivery-man-cam, with one of the interesting ones being the motion sensor on the front, and the ability in the app to change the motion detection zones so that you aren’t recording clips every time you walk by your window, but will record when someone opens your back gate.
This even works at night, with infrared lighting which lets you make out pretty much anything which is rather handy.
Everything is kept in secure cloud storage, which surprisingly is free and includes up to 7200 seconds of your clips, no contract necessary, and you can auto-delete clips older than a day, a week, two weeks or even a year, depending on how many clips you record.
As you’d expect, setting this all up is pretty easy, there’s a free android and iOS app you can use, you connect the blink hub using the QR code on the back, same for the cameras then mount your cameras wherever you want and boom, done.
They aren’t too pricey either, at £180 for this dual camera kit. No monthly fees, no installation costs, that’s it!, They might be a great addition to your black friday basket this year as they’ll be on offer, so if you want to check them out visit the top link in the description.
