RTX 3080 LAPTOP! Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15 Showcase
|As always with sponsored videos I like to make it nice and clear right at the start. This video is sponsored by Asus and NVIDIA, and in it I get to showcase this, the Asus ROG Zephyrus DUO 15 that, despite its insanely thin size, is rocking an RTX 3080. Stick around as we check out the laptop and the 3080’s crazy performance.
I reviewed the last generation version of the Zephyrus Duo relatively recently and loved it, it’s a genuinely innovative machine that I would personally use as my on the go gaming and productivity machine. Then Asus went and stuck a 3080 in it and now you can legitimately game at 4K on high settings, or make use of the 120Hz 4K panel (which still covers 100% of the AdobeRGB spectrum by the way!) and play at medium settings.
As you’ve probably seen from NVIDIA’s launch last year, the RTX 3080 is based on their ‘Ampere’ architecture which they will tell you is the “biggest generational leap ever”, using their second generation Ray Tracing (RT) cores, and now third generation Tensor (AI) cores, which power both the RTX suite of games, and features like DLSS 2.0 and NVIDIA Broadcast.
Then there is their third generation of Max-Q technologies, specifically Dynamic Boost 2.0 which uses AI to balance power between the CPU, graphics core and graphics memory based on your current usage to get the squeeze the most performance out possible. There is also Whisper Mode 2.0 which helps reduce noise by letting you select the noise level you prefer and it’ll work out the best way to keep the laptop under that. New for this generation is also Resizable BAR support, letting the CPU access all of the graphics memory, rather than tiny chunks at a time meaning more performance for no reduction in battery life. And of course, DLSS or deep learning super sampling, NVIDIA’s AI antialiasing tech that lets you get more performance while retaining great image quality.
The RTX 3080 inside this is rocking 6144 CUDA cores, and get this.. 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM! That’s more than enough to absolutely smash 4K gaming AND productivity work like 3D modelling – which yes, this laptop is more than capable of. Don’t believe me? Let’s have a play and I’ll show you!
So it can game at 4K with no problems, but what about something more esports oriented like Fortnite?
Don’t forget, esports games like Fortnite also support NVIDIA reflex which helps lower input lag too, giving you a competitive advantage and helping you click on those heads faster – unlike me right now…
Of course, we can’t not play Cyberpunk with Ray Tracing. It’s a stunning game and you’ll be surprised just how well the 3080 can do at ultra!
Of course, if you spec your Zephyrus Duo with the stunning 4K 120Hz display, you get a killer productivity machine too. This model is rocking a Ryzen 5900HX which as I tested in a recent video is pretty much the king of laptop CPUs right now. That means if you want to finish your gaming session and fire up premiere to cut together your gameplay footage, or maybe model a sick GPU like the one on my T-Shirt this is more than capable. If you do a little more work than play on it, you can head to the GeForce Experience panel and switch to their Studio drivers to enhance the productivity performance.
