Corsair Releases Bulldog – A DIY 4K Gaming System

bulldoggCorsair just dropped a huge bombshell of new kit! Not only did they announce a new ITX case designed to sit stylishly under your new 4K TV and play awesome 4K games, but also a new ITX CPU cooler with a blower style fan and radiator (oh yeah it’s liquid cooled) and a GPU brace that lets you use an H55 CPU cooler to cool your toasty GPU AND also a new 600W SFX power supply. Gosh that is a lot of stuff! Let’s start with the sexy looking case though, affectionately named Bulldog. This ITX case seems to hold a standard ITX motherboard, an SFX PSU, a full length GPU with watercooling, at least one 2.5″ SSD and likely a 3.5″ HDD somewhere in there. It has two USB 3 ports on the front, along with a surprising resemblance to a head crab from Half life 2… I called it a system for a reason though, as it looks like this case isn’t much more than a case without the other awesome things I’ll cover in a second.buuldog1

The case seems to have a lot of ventilation on the front, along with some on the back and left hand side, the rest of the case is what looks like brushed aluminum – just like Corsair’s other cases.

So let’s talk about the rest of the stuff. The announced a fully modular 600W SFX power supply with a quiet 92MM fan to power this beast – I’m not sure if or when these pieces will be available seperately, just that it is awesome to see more people making SFX PSUs (and all the other cool stuff)!

This ITX small-form factor liquid cooler is crazy! It does have a pretty small, but thick radiator, and I’m not sure of the fan size (although it looks like a 120mm fan), but since this is going to be in an ultra-small form factor system, I would say this is possibly the coolest announcement, as this could lead to a hell of a lot of possibilities in terms of small systems with stupid-powerful CPUs!buuldog3

This bracket is very similar to NZXT’s offering with their Kraken CPU coolers, but either way I am glad Corsair is making this, as it means it will be coming to the masses, with more system builders and such actually putting stuff like this in a PC, not just the odd modder. I’d like to see the difference in temps and noise, since there is still a blower style fan on the back to cool the memory, but I guess we will just have to wait and see!buuldog4The fun thing about this article, is that we aren’t done yet. Oh no. I saved the best ’till last. Corsair announced their ‘Lapdog‘ Keyboard/mouse armrest too, which has a FREAKING RGB MECHANICAL KEYBOARD BUILT INTO IT! Well, technically it’s a tenkeyless Corsair RGB K series keyboard that slots into the very nicely designed rest, but still.. It’s awesome. You’ll get a 7 inch x 11 inch mouse pad surface and a mouse cable bungee built, and in the top bulge is where you hide all your wires for both. There is also a USB 3 hub on the side, and while it doesn’t look to be wireless, it looks pretty damn padded at the bottom and down right sexy, so I’d put up with the wires, especially since they detach from the dock and the PC, it would be pretty easy to live with.lapdog_angle

The Bulldog is said to have an MSRP of $399, with and extra $99 for the HG10 bracket and H55 cooler. While I’m not entirely sure what that $399 covers, I’m pretty sure that is the case, PSU and cooler – although in their 40 second trailer for it, it mentions that, ‘You choose the CPU, graphics and memory’ which could mean storage and motherboard come included. It sounds like Corsair just launched a pre-built but customisable system you can buy – which could be interesting! The lapdog will cost $89 empty, or $199 with mouse and keyboard, not bad considering you get an RGB mechanical keyboard, comfy armrest/keyboard dock, and a good mouse! Let me know what you think of this release and if you would get one in the comments below!
