I’m just gonna lay this out for you. This is a $100, or £90, rubber dome, slipstream wireless, gaming keyboard. It’s got macro keys, dim RGB lighting, and, yes, rubber dome switches. Oh boy.

Now before I go any further, there is a poll up on the little “i” card I want you to go vote on – would you game on rubber dome switches – and would you ever consider this keyboard? Because I am genuinely interested to know, and if you are feeling generous, leave a comment letting me know why.

So what does the K57 Wireless have to offer? Well lets start with the cool stuff, mainly the slipstream wireless connection. That’s a crazy fast connection that in my experience has been pretty reliable, and also has the ability to connect to bluetooth devices like your phone, which is nice, and you can swap between them with the keys in the middle here.

You’ve also got 6 macro keys, which you can change what they do in iCUE, along with the aforementioned dim RGB lighting – since the light has to come through the rubber membrane which diffuses the light a bit too well – and you’ve also got dedicated media keys which is always nice to see.

It charges via a micro USB port on the top, which is a tad frustrating to see as USB C is much more durable and long lasting, but ah well I suppose. You’ve also got a nice little slot for the USB receiver in the top so if you were to travel with it, it’s stored nicely away.

Typing experience is… fine. It’s what you expect from a rubber dome keyboard. It’s a bit stiff, then mushy, but the actual build quality is alright, decent enough quality key caps which is good.

Gaming wise, it isn’t too bad either. I played some CS:GO for a while and only had a few moments of frustration that a key press didn’t register, but honestly I couldn’t daily this. Which I think ties us quite nicely into the conclusion, which is that if this was a cheap keyboard, it’d be fine. If it was £20 or £30 I wouldn’t fuss about it being rubber dome, or dim RGB, but it’s not. It’s £90.

To put that in context, you could buy nearly 3 Drevo Gramr mechanical keyboards I reviewed recently, or almost 2 Drevo Calibur Wireless mechanical keyboards. That’s how expensive this is. And that is crazy.
