Let me preface this review by saying that while I’ve already covered a PC Specialist Recoil II – link in the cards – I will be covering most everything here, so don’t worry if you haven’t seen the other video, although feel free to check it out after this one if you are considering buying one!

So, what’s the deal with this RTX 2060 based laptop then? Well, let’s run you through the good, the bad and the ugly. Starting as always with the good we have the form factor and I/O. It’s a 15.6” laptop, with overall small packaging, minimal bezel around the display, and great styling. It’s actually even got an RGB light bar at the front lip by the touch pad.

It’s also got decent enough I/O, with 2 USB 3 ports, 1 USB 2, 1 Type C, HDMI, 2 MiniDisplayPorts, gigabit ethernet, mic and headphone jacks and DC in.

Spec wise, this is strapped. It’s got a hex core 8750H which turbos to 4.1GHz, up to 32GB of RAM – although my model has 16GB – and either an RTX 2060 or RTX 2070 Max-Q. The 2070 is a £178 option which I wouldn’t personally recommend but that’s just me. You can also have up to 2 M.2 SSDs and a 2.5 inch hard drive which it is awesome to see as well.

Performance wise this thing is incredibly impressive let’s take a look at the gaming results

On the display side of things it’s a 144hz monitor which is actually very nice in terms of colour accuracy it’s not incredibly impressive with somewhere around 70 to 80% of the srgb spectrum but is still a great display and actually very impressive and it comes to viewing angles for 144hz panel and response excellently in games

Moving on to the bad we have basically most of the input the keyboard is still the same style of for mechanical which really just doesn’t play out very well for me personally and well I’ve actually just come from the Acer Swift 5 which to me I think is potentially the worst keyboard on a laptop I’ve experienced it’s still not fantastic and if they’d remove the the faux clickiness this can actually be a pretty decent keyboard is the layout and the overall experience using it isn’t too bad – the key wobble and clicky feel

The tripod is a little bit better and it’s still for the most part fine but like I’m number of the PC specialist that talks I’ve reviewed in the past this one still has the same Mouse of cursor wobbling issue and it’s not a massive deal is not something that really ruined my experience with it but it is something that still doesn’t seem to have been addressed and it’s something I’d like to see addressed in the future

Still staying on the bad list the webcam and microphone are I still definitely on here let’s have a quick test of that

Battery life is also something that skin of on the bad list here with only 2 hours and 10 minutes in the pcmark battery life test at that’s just general web browsing as well that’s not and that’s not even the accelerator test so do keep that in mind if you’re planning on using this laptop out and about

And finally the noise of a laptop is certainly something to mention it’s not all the worse that I had in a gaming laptop but it is certainly noisy and if you were gaming is say in company of others it may be distracting for them obviously for you if you just have headphones on it’s probably going to be fine but you keep that in mind also here’s a quick test of that

And finally the ugly the temperatures on this laptop are generally just insane the CPU hitting 99 degrees C across all 6 cores are there 99 or 98 degrees Celsius stained while playing games this wasn’t even a crazy heavy CPU utilisation task that wasn’t a CPU benchmark it was just playing games where the sea view hit 99 degrees c o the GPU surprisingly state around about 80° which is about the temperature target for these sorts of Cards so that’s not too terrible but again that’s if you temperature is incredibly high even with the fans on full Tilt

But hands down the worst part of the temperature problem this laptop has is the heat that gets transferred to the top where the keyboard. They’ve done a good job of keeping the temperature away from where your hand is going to be on wasd, but if you ever try and say push the cooler boost button which is the button that actually lets you turn the fans on to cool the laptop, it’s over 50 degrees Celsius and the maximum that I’ve ever seen it is just shy of 60 degrees see if you try and touch that button which ironically is the button that you need to touch if you want the laptop to be cool it will literally burn the top of your finger – this is not a joke this is something that I actually recorded and it’s just kind of crazy.

With that said, this is still a pretty impressive laptop or the keyboard is not fantastic nor is the Trackpad at times and of course the heat problem is definitely something to keep an eye on overall I’m still fairly impressed with the machine the overall usability the portability and while the battery life isn’t fantastic the display is actually very nice I know it’s actually just a pretty pleasant experience the game on as long as you have some headphones it of course it may disturb others but at £1,300 at least in terms of the spec that they’ve got here and you can check out the link which might give you a bit of a discount in description but otherwise it’s still a pretty decent deal.
