You can pick up this style of “truely wireless buds” on Amazon for around £20, compared to Apple’s £160 for their AirPods, but what about a nice middle ground with great audio quality, good battery life, and half the price of the AirPods? These are the 1MORE “Stylish” TWS buds.

These tiny things are really very impressive. As with many of these wireless headphones, the case is how you charge them, with it’s own 410mAh battery to charge each 55mAh battery per ear. Sadly it uses a micro usb port on the back instead of a nice, durable Type C, but otherwise dropping the buds in is nice an easy with the magnets inside and it only takes a little over an hour to fully charge the buds from flat.

Speaking of charging, you’ll get around 6 hours of listening per charge, which I found to be plenty as whenever you aren’t using them, they are in the case, recharging again. And since we are talking about specs, I should mention these now use Bluetooth 5.0 and a Qualcomm CSR 300 chip, and support both Siri and Google assistant too, which you can hail from the single button on the left bud – as long as you aren’t listening to music, in which case the buttons on both act as a play pause/next track/back button.  

They do have one other party trick, which is how they connect to your phone. Unlike most of these style headphones, they don’t use a “master/slave” connection – ie you only connect one bud to your phone, then the bud connects to the other in a “daisy chain” format. These connect both directly to your phone, so if you do lose one, or you want to use one at a time, you can connect to which ever you want.

Being fully wireless, unlike the more ‘conventional’ Jaybird X3 style, having a secure fit is a pretty big deal. 1MORE try to accomplish this with both the usual swappable rubber tips to grip your ear canal, alongside a ring style support that is also swappable. I’m using the large support, and even with that, they do fall out every now and again. They aren’t great for something like running, but for everyday commuting usage they are great.

Of course, for your £80 you are going to want pretty good audio quality. You won’t be disappointed. When I first put these in I filmed my reactions and as you can see I was genuinely amazed at the quality you get. They are only single driver, but they were able to reproduce excellent quality across a range of tracks and even allow me to hear elements of tracks I didn’t know were there. While I’m sure there are better quality headphones out there, I’m happy with these.

So, do I recommend them? Definitely. They’ve exceeded my expectations in audio quality, battery life and connectivity, they are super easy to use and have a ‘good enough’ secure fit that I don’t feel worried they’ll fall out all the time. And the make you look just as stupid, if not a bit less, than AirPods. So it’s all good. Would I put them on my desk? 100% yes. Highly recommended.
