Now, I’m sure you have probably already seen a load of RTX Super benchmarks including ones that compare to AMD’s RX 5700 cards, but since I don’t have good numbers with those cards, I’m only going to focus on performance from standard to SUPER. 

The long and short of this is that NVIDIA has thrown a few more CUDA cores at the problem, thankfully, at the same price as before meaning you get a decent jump in performance over the standard card, for, in theory, the same price. Here’s some numbers.

The same ZOTAC AMP EXTREME edition card I have here is selling for £100 more than the same model non-Super card. The same can be said of the 2060, with the 2060 SUPER selling for basically the same price as a standard 2070, for less performance, and a full £100 price premium over the standard card.

Maybe the 2080 SUPER will be different, I’ve actually got one coming in this week so hopefully I’ll be able to tell you soon enough, but if it’s price is anything to go by, it won’t be.

So, why would you buy an RTX Super? Well, besides the fact that soon if you want a 2070 or 2080 level card, you won’t be able to buy anything else from team green, I can’t really understand why. If you have around £450 to spend on a GPU, I’d rush and grab a 2070 while you can, since it’s better performing than the 2060 super for the same price – currently. 

In a few months when supplies are running dry of standard 2070 and 2080s, the answer will be, sorry, you’ll just have to get a 2060 super, or go to AMD. As for these cards themselves, they are both great. The MSI Gaming X cooler did an amazing job of keeping the card quiet and cool, and as did the Zotac Amp extreme cooler. Both auto-overclocked well, even on this sweltering 35°c day, so if you do want a 2060 or 2070 super, these are both great options.
