First off, I need to make it clear this video is sponsored by Edifier. Now these are their brand new NeoBuds Pro, the world’s first Hi-Res certified true wireless earbuds. They offer high quality sound from a much smaller, more compact and portable design than we’ve seen before, and man do they sound good. Let’s take a look.

Popping the case out of the box, you’ll be greeted with the charging case’s rather nice design, and the status LED that’s been ripped from right off of KITT’s front bumper. It’s nice and small, making it easy to carry in a pocket. Inside is both NeoBuds, which are activated when you remove them from the case.

Each bud has a composite driver unit, with a Knowles balanced armature driver acting as a tweeter, and a 10mm dynamic driver for both low and mid range frequencies. It’s rare to find buds like these with balanced armature drivers, and even rarer to find them with both that and dynamic drivers.

According to Edifier, one of the challenges in using both types of drivers is managing the different frequencies each driver is responsible for. Using an analog crossover, the BA driver still ends up producing lower frequencies, rather than just the high pitch tones it produces well, so Edifier have introduced bi-amping with DSP-based active crossover. That’s the sort of tech you’d find in the traditional Hi-Fi industry including in many of Edifier’s own monitor speaker systems, but they’ve managed to shrink it down to fit in these absolutely tiny buds.

What’s also new is the LHDC, low-latency high-definition codec, which can transmit 96kHz and 24Bit audio over Bluetooth making the NeoBuds Pro the first Hi-Res for premium sound certified TWS buds. That means you get the most crisp and clear sound possible even over Bluetooth, and means the drivers can work with the best quality audio possible to deliver punchy bass and touching treble.

Personally, I was surprised at how clear these sound. There isn’t any distortion even at higher volumes, and with the right song the bass really gives you that sort of ‘feel it in your chest’ type sound – although it’s not overpowering. Rather, it’s much more true to life and sounds a lot more like you are sitting in the same room as the artist.

What’s better is that not only do these sound great, but they also have active noise cancellation so when you are commuting to work, or just out and about, your listening experience won’t be interrupted. It’s equipped with 3 noise-cancelling microphones to ensure clear communication during calls and great wind-noise reduction.

You even get a maximum of 24 hours of total playback time with 6 hours from the buds and 18 hours worth stored in the charging case, plus both the case and the buds have fast charging with the case using a USB C port on the back.

Edifier are launching the NeoBuds Pro on IndieGoGo for $99, which you can check out at the link in the description below and pick up a pair.
