If you are anything like me, when you are away from home, the ability to monitor and control your PC from anywhere is really useful. This video is all about showing you how you can do that with Pulseway, who are sponsoring this video.

So, what’s Pulseway’s RMM? Well, it’s an easy to use and install bit of software that lets you manage and monitor your PCs from anywhere. Their mobile app is really the main hit here – with the ability to see the PC’s CPU and memory usage, it’s public IP address, even what CPU, motherboard and even BIOS version it’s running, also monitor hard drive space used, and even execute terminal commands remotely.

It’s also got an option to run “scripts”, which of course you can add your own, but has a few built in ones too which can be really useful – even when you are at your PC – stuff like clearing temp files or check and install OS updates.

Speaking of OS updates, you’ve also got the option of doing them manually, or even by severity, through the “Windows Update” option too, and you can also view installed programs and uninstall them if you want as well. Finally, you can also lock, restart or even shut down the PC, and use WakeOnWan to wake it up again too.

Now, if you are just a home user, this – and their web platform that has all the same features of the mobile app, including automating tasks like windows updates and plenty more, this is completely free to manage up to 2 machines. You can, of course, upgrade to their team plan, especially if you are an IT tech managing an office of PCs, as they have a lot of enterprise features to offer too, including remote desktop built in.

Now, you may be thinking, this all sounds great, but you’ve only got Windows machines setup there, does it only work on windows? Happily, no. They’ve got agents for Windows, MacOS, most major Linux distros, and apps for both Android and iOS, so pretty much any device you want to manage, you can do that with Pulseway.

I think what’s great about this, especially the mobile app, is how simple it is to setup and use – so if you are an IT tech and you need to let someone who isn’t quite as well versed in tech have access to this, it’s nice and simple so – hopefully – they won’t have any issues understanding what they can do – and maybe what they shouldn’t.

To actually install an agent, you can either use their deployment tool if you are installing to an office full of PCs, or do it manually by downloading and running the installer, all you do is sign in from the PC you want to control and that’s pretty much it. You do have a lot of options available, should you want to control what features you can access remotely – maybe you don’t want to be able to fully shut the PC down, or maybe you don’t want Wake on WAN supported, you can control that and plenty more.

One of the really cool features – one that I’m actually really enjoying having enabled – is their notifications tab. You can set up a lot of different options for this, from checking if the system’s drives are failing, to its battery being low, but also conditional variables like if a program closes – which since I run a headless Windows rendering PC that runs Adobe media encoder, which likes to crash or have windows update close it and restart, I get notified when it closes and can make sure to have it re-opened before I next need to render footage. Really useful.

Pulseway is also adding a whole load of new features regularly, which you can check out at the “updates” link in the description.

So that’s Pulseway, like I said, if you just want to control you gaming rig and a NAS or HTPC, it’s totally free for you to use, and all cloud hosted, so no worries there. If you want to give it a shot, check out the link in the description below and see how it can help you!
