Yes, it’s that time of year again! Where you guys get to decide which manufacturers and their parts can be crowned Tech of the Year, 2019. Now I’m going to be doing things a little differently this year, instead of a google survey you can go and fill out, I’m going to make it really easy for you.

Up in the cards there are 5 polls, with I think 5 options each – i’d do more questions and options if Youtube let me, but that’s what I’m working with – so your job is to head there and vote. Now this video is going to be laying out each category and option, with a little explainer for why it could be your pick. So lets get started.

First has to be CPU of the year. This has been one of the craziest years for the CPU market all thanks to AMD and their Ryzen CPUs. Now, Intel has also launched a couple this year, but since there is only 5 options, the contenders will have to be these. First, the Ryzen 3950X. This isn’t one I’ve reviewed personally yet, but is a monster 16 core CPU, the fastest single core performance of the lineup, and costs just $750 for all that goodness. It also uses the AM4 platform too, meaning it’s an amazing upgrade path for anyone with a Ryzen CPU right now.

Next is it’s baby brother, the Ryzen 3600X – this is really the value king for gaming CPUs for everyone, and if you are thinking “why didn’t he put the non X instead”, that’s because the X is the better option for everyone, for the 99% of people who don’t overclock at all, and if you would have voted for the 3600, put your vote here.

Jumping back up the product stack is their new 32 core Threadripper, while we all wait with baited breath for the absolute beast that is the 64 core, this killer CPU is priced to win, and has power to spare. It does need a new motherboard, but has PCIe Gen 4 and another generation or two of upgrade life left too.

Moving over to team blue, we have the new i9 9900KS – effectively a from-factory-overclocked version of their 9900K. It’s 8 cores, up to 5GHz boost and a monster for 1080p gaming. It’s priced pretty high, but if you want the best gaming chip on the market, for 1080p anyway, technically speaking, this is it.

And finally, the brand spanking new 10980XE, the 18 core that is half the price of last gen, and still supported on x299 motherboards. While it’s pretty pricey per core, it does offer a lot of performance and new AI benefits from the extended AVX512 instructions.

So, that’s your choices for CPUs. Go make your pick, and lets move onto monitors.

For the monitors, I’m going to ask you for the brand that’s been the best this year, with a monitor I’ve reviewed as the reason for suggesting them. First is the one I’ve reviewed most recently, the AOC 24G2U, it’s a stunning IPS 1080p 144Hz panel that is under £200. It’s a brilliant experience and well worth a look

Next is MSI for their MAG271CQR, a 1440p, 144hz, VA monitor that took the world by storm this year, and one that you guys have bought in the near hundreds through my Amazon links. It too is a great experience and well worth a look.

A little older is the Gigabyte AD27QD, their first attempt at a gaming monitor, and man they made a good one. It too is 1440p, 144hz, but is IPS, and a stunning one at that. It’s also priced well, cheaper than the incumbent Asus and Acer models.

And finally, there is Acer, for their new 240Hz model, the XF252Q. It’s a masterpiece in smooth and responsive gaming, with decent, but not crazy cheap price. If there is another brand you’d rather see win this, click the other option and leave a comment with what you think.

Moving onto headsets, this is interesting as I’ve included two categories, premium and budget. On the premium end is the Corsair Vitruoso, one I’m promised to have my hands on soon, and one that apparently sold out world wide in 48 hours. Crazy.

Next is my new daily drivers, the AudioTechnica ATH-G1WLs. While pricey, they offer phenomenal quality and comfort, and are really a step above the rest by comparison.

On the budget side, there is the Asus TUF H3 – a decent set of budget headphones that make a lot less tradeoffs that you’d expect for the price.

And finally, Razer, with their Kraken X, a budget offering by Razer standards that goes head to head with the TUF H3, and Corsair HS35s. Once again, if there is another option you’d rather see, click other and leave a comment.

Moving on to keyboards, we have the Wooting Two, an indie made keyboard with an incredible feature set. Using infrared to measure key travel you can do some incredible stuff with this, including using it like an Xbox controller and having multiple key pressed registered per stroke. And it’s pretty cheap – for it’s class anyway.

Next is the Logitech Pro X – one I should also have my hands on shortly. This has swappable PCBs for different keyswitches, and a pretty reasonable price tag too.

Then there is the Cooler Master MK850, a keyboard with 8 “AimPad” keys that offer some analogue control, along with standard cherry keys.

Finally, there is the Steelseries Apex Pro, which has their own Analogue keyswitches, and some interesting features like setting the actuation point with the OLED screen built in.

And our final category, gaming laptops. Again this one is about the brands, so we have MSI, with some great options from them from budget to bricks. Then there is HP Omen, which is more on the budget side of things. We have Asus which, like MSI do a wide range of options including their Zephyrus lineup. And then there is Acer, who make great options like the Nitro 5 and the Triton 500.
